Through Winter Light

Take me to the quiet place,
in the wood where Summer sleeps;
and caroling Robins lift their song,
resounding round the shady deeps.

Then by sledge to the upland-edge,
where winter light is made,
by firing streams of elfindust,
at fizzy lemonade.

By Whisker Hill to the water mill,
where icicles are mined,
and in a shed with a glassy bed,
hoar frost etchings are refined.

Oh, forge a bond with a frozen pond,
and gliding, let your spirit go;
and feel the transcendental peace,
in the whisper-silence of the snow.
